The red beans and rice turned out really well. I didn't find smoked ham, and I went all kinds of absent minded and put my green pepper in the cupboard rather than the fridge, and found it yesterday when I was looking for cereal.

Yes, I did. I really, really did. The pepper was shriveled and pathetic. I felt horribly guilty.

I substituted carrots, which I had on hand, for the pepper, and mixed wild rice into the first batch of white rice I ate. It was cooked and needed to be eaten.

The andouille sausage from the Root Cellar was awesome. I had to buy it in ten minutes, since the store closed at 5 on Friday and I showed up at 4:50. I'm definitely going to have to go poke around some more this week.

I fed it to a friend this weekend. He's from the Gulf Coast, so when he told me it was good, I was terribly pleased with myself.

Of course, he was also incredibly intoxicated, and at that point of the evening, would have eaten anything and not noticed if it sucked, but I'm trying to look on the bright side. Even if he did have to add a lot of Tabasco to make it spicy enough. I'm a lightweight when it comes to spice, I know.

Still, it came out well and made lovely drunk-food. I'll definitely be making it again.

If you'll excuse me, I've got to go retrieve some grapes from the dishwasher.

I thought this post was really funny. I like that you don't just list the recipe but add antedotes to each one. Maybe I will have to try one of these recipes out, and put my cooking skills to test!!!
